The Iotaphora Admirabilis
The urge to create something cute and entirely myself. Those were the main emotions that went into this work of wearable art.
Overview
This was a personal experiment and challenge. I wanted to make an avatar entirely from scratch for the second time ever. I decided that the perfect subject for this was my recently drawn character Blue Velvet. There was so many things that went into designing him such as looking into the Iotaphora Admirabilis, I chose this one because I loved how it naturally just had blue and yellow on its wings. This avatar is public and I still get joy seeing people wear it.

The Prompt
I Gave myself the challenge of making a model 100% from scratch for the second time ever. This was a very fun challenge to give myself. I really got in tune with making things in blender from this project. I also challenged myself to try and make it under 20,000 polygons so that way it was more quest headset friendly.
Key Takeaways
My big takeaway from this was that I am capable of making things from scratch. I had done it once before but honestly I felt like it wasn’t good enough. I had been making clothing and items from scratch for awhile before this project as well. The whole process of making it gave me more confidence in what I do and now I only make things from scratch if I can help it.
Would I do anything differently?
With this project I would decrease The amount of bones used in the wings. I used too many and it made the hair unable to have physics on the quest side of things. I would also change how I made the mouth because there’s something wrong with how the textures move when the mouth makes an o shape.
